Here lives a brown snake who was sunning herself, while she was there out popped "cheeky" a mouse who started to show off in front of the snake, cheeky wasn't worried because he thought the snake won't catch me while she is sunning herself. Cheeky spots a bunch of spinifex seeds and fills up his little belly with them. The snake was not happy with what cheeky was doing so goes after cheeky, but cheeky had eaten too much to move quickly enough next thing he knew he was hanging upside down in the claw of an eagle. Cheeky get free of the eagles craw and landed back on ground but he had to get away from that snake, next thing he saw was the eagle flying away with the snake in it claws. Cheeky was exhausted and headed home to snuggle with his mum and tell the tale of his adventure and that we won't be doing that again. Back in the Dreamtime period there lived a magpie called Guluu he was an angry bird that would swoop down and peck other animals on the head. Guluu was asked why he was so angry and his response was "because the butcher birds teased him". Guluu gets advice from some of the other animals on how to control his temper and to try and ignore the butcher birds when they tease him. At first it is hard for Guluu not to react to them teasing him but then he remembers what the other animals told him to do and eventually the butcher birds leave Guluu alone as they are not getting a reaction out of him. This book is all about getting teased and how its not nice to be tease and the way it can make you feel. Miss 4 thought that is wasn't nice that Guluu was getting picked on, so we talked about how you should be nice to people and not tease them as it can upset and hurt people. From the book... "For anyone who has ever been picked on- stay calm like the surface of the water, yet strong like its current. And know that there is a song out there for you".
