The Treasure of Pirate Frank by Mal Peet, Elspeth Graham and Jez Tuya.
This is about a boy who wants to find the treasure of Pirate Frank so he sets off using his map as a guideline to were to go. Beyond the sea on the island of spice and gold over the snowy mountains past the forest above the swamp up the steps beside the volcano across the bridge to the tree that marks the spot. When he gets there he finds a girl standing on the chest "She's not on the map!" So he runs back down the steps through the swap through the forest over the mountains while getting chase by the girl all the way back to his ship and falls asleep dreaming about what he found that day. The illustrations are great in this book, Miss 4 and I both enjoyed reading this one. Recommended age 3-6 years.
