Hello Everyone, Would like to do a quick introduction to my mum, (Grandmother/Tess) who will be doing reviews for Kids Books We Love too now. She has also had experience in the past working on equitainment website writing reviews on horse books for all ages both new books and preloved ones. This wonderful lady, my mother has passed down her love and passion for books to me and my daughter. So we are all very passionate about books. So you will still get the great content on our account of books, reviews and new books to look forward too. Unfortunately my health has taken a turn and after discussing what to do with my IG account this is something she would like to help out with and do it with Miss 6 as she grows up. So any enquires please send through to Tess at [email protected] Thanks for all your likes, comments, follows and support. The book community is lots of fun to be involved in. Mel.

When I think about a little golden books, I think; childhood, reading, story time, bedtime stories, please one more, golden spines, classic stories. Out of all books, I think these have to be my favourite books of all time! Lots of great memories and now I get to share and collect them all with my girl (Miss 6). To me my collection is extra special as I still have all of mine from my childhood, I even have some of my mums books from her childhood and now I get to add in new ones for Miss 6 as well. I love collecting old ones and new ones, I am always hunting for them wherever I go. I am always telling people please if you don't want them give them to me as I will add them to our forever growing collection. Which, how many a little golden books do you think we have....? We have over 300 titles. I would love to know exactly how many different titles are out there but no-one will respond to my emails... I did read that one person has over 1 200 books in her collection, so I guess I have a bit of catching up to do. Bit of history behind Little Golden Books. Little Golden Books launched in 1942 and in 2017 they celebrated 75 years. It only took around 5 months and they had sold over 1.5 million copies. In 1982 they had sold over 800 million books. November 20, 1986: The one billionth Little Golden Book, The Poky Little Puppy, is printed. The most popular characters/books are: The Poky Little Puppy Scuffy the Tugboat The Jolly Barnyard Mister Dog The Tawny Scrawny Lion The Little Red Caboose Tootle The Saggy Baggy Elephant Little Red Hen The Monster at the end of this Book (which we have all of theses ones) While on my search, trying to find all things Little Golden Book related. I managed to come across some fun things that I have now added into our collection of Little Golden Book stuff. Like handmade diaries, planners, junk journals. Games, stationary, puzzles, tote bags and of course more new books and second hand books and even mini little golden books. Make your own little golden books as well, which was heaps of fun to do with Miss 6. See images below to see what I have. There is so many craft and DYI things out there on others peoples blogs, Pinterest and Etsy that have great ideas that you could try at home with the kids. I am going to try make one of these gorgeous junk journals with Miss 6, (you can't see them in the photos above) I know she will love doing it, and she will love to try and be crafty with me. So off on a search to find a bunch of second hands books that we can cut up and reuse, then with the extras, may make up some tags, flags and book marks to keep us busy. Things I have seen them used for Bunting flags. Diaries/Notebooks. Used as a serving tray for kids milkshakes and cookies. Pictures in frames. Paper flowers. Gift tags and cards. Bookmarks. Single letter stand covers. Place mats and coasters. Baby shower themes. I have seen some of the characters as soft cuddly toys and even baby toys. Even tote bags and t-shirts and jumpers. Places I have found and bought my little golden books from. Any good second hand book store. book fairs, charity stores, garage sales, school fairs & fetes. In-store, Target, Big w, Kmart, Myer, Dymocks, Coles, Woolworths. Any book shop I find passing through a town while on holidays. www.ebay.com.au www.gumtree.com.au www.fishpond.com.au www.amazon.co.uk www.booktopia.com.au www.bookdepository.com www.dymocks.com.au www.worldofbooks.com www.thenile.co.nz See below for some images of our forever growing collection of theses little treasured books. We are sharing the little golden book love by giving away 7 books to one lucky winner to start or add to their own little golden book library collection. These books are all brand new. Giveaway will be held on our Instagram account @kids.books.we.love
Thanks for stopping by to read this. Let me know if you are a little golden book lover like me, I would love to her about your stories with them, and how many books you have or had as a child? Or did you have a favourite one that stood out for you? Do you know of some great places to get some golden books? I am alway looking and adding new and old titles to our library. Let me know, I'm happy to chat. Mel. I am ready to tell you my story.... well part of it. The last couple of years I have not been doing as much kid book blogging/reviewing since I found out I had cancer, anyways I am not here to tell you all about that now. I am staying strong and not letting this speed bump get too much in the way. I do want to say is that I spent sometime down time with the family making the most precious memories and meaningful days having lots of fun! Now this year I have sent off my little loved one to kindergarten, so I am hoping to be able to find more me time lol, Like time to blog, relax, read a novel, go to a cafe and all the things you think sound like a nice idea, but never actually get the chance to do with the little ones around your feet. I have so many kid book related blog posts I could write up, ideas to do, activities, author interviews, competitions ,giveways and great kid book information to get out there, so much content, so little hours in the day.... I never realised how passionate I was towards kids books until I was able to relive it all through my daughter and share the love for reading/books with her. It was always one of my own childhood memories I love to think about, when mum or dad read to you and you of course would also try and get read more than what you were meant to. I started this little page/blog/instagram account a few years back now when my daughter was little and started to take an interest in books. For me this was just a little way of keeping our own personal track on books we were reading, until I started sharing everything that we were reading and doing together with books with all my followers and then realising that there is so much more out there in the eyes of kids books too look at, see and read. The best part was I was having so much fun discovering all theses great new books with everyone, I got to be able to start blogging a fun book filled little community here for people to help find themselves new books to share with there kids.. So if you ever feel like sharing and talking about kids books, I am happy to help out where I can. I would love it if you left me a comment here telling me about your reading time with your kids and what you do to make it fun..? I always like hearing what everyone else gets up too in their reading journey. Mel I hope you all have a lovely Christmas, New Year and Summer Hoilday.

Middle Bear by Susanna Isern and Manon Gauthier.
A great story about being the middle child well in this case a middle bear. Middle Bear was always having middle things, like a middle bed, middle size plate and middle size clothing he was sick of being the middle bear until one day his parents were sick and the 3 brothers had to help gather some medicine for them to get better. Along there adventure big bear and little bear had trouble achieving this but middle bear was just the perfect size to complete the task. He was very proud when he got home with the medicine for his parents. Realzing that being in the middle isn't that bad after all, everyone one has there special talents and can achieve what ever they put there mind too. Recommend age 2 to 7 years. Just looking at this cover I knew I had to get this book, kids reading + dog = too cute! Madeline Finn is not very confident at reading so she tells everyone she does not like to read. One Saturday her and her mum head to the library and the librarian says to Madeline come with me I have something you may like to do. Which is reading to dogs, at first Madeline is not quite sure but once she starts she starts a beautiful bond between her and the dog which brings her confidence up to be able to read to everyone at school. Such a lovely story. Miss 4 is always reading books to our dogs its very cute! The illustrations are just gorgeous. Definitely glad to be adding this book to our collection.
